BVG heads into the future with new ticketing backend from eos.uptrade
New system combines all of BVG's digital sales channels in one multi-channel platform
Hamburg, September 04, 2024. Successful launch of BVG's new ticketing backend - stable live operation since July 24, 2024 with first sales channel, the new FahrInfo app. Second sales channel (new ticket app) already in pilot operation, further digital channels to follow.
Berlin is pursuing a multi-app strategy for the purchase of public transport tickets - until now, each of these apps had its own ticketing backend. With the introduction of the completely new ticketing backend from eos.uptrade, all apps will now be successively connected to the new central system via a dedicated API.
The new platform with its cloud-based, scalable microservice architecture enables BVG to optimize operating costs for maintenance and customer support processes and to react quickly to business challenges. The new platform's powerful cockpit is the central location for managing all digital sales channels and customer support processes. BVG employees also benefit from significantly expanded statistics and reporting functionalities.
At the same time as the new platform went live, the payment system was switched to a new payment service provider (Riverty).
Regular BVG customers with subscriptions such as the Deutschland-Ticket or the new Berlin-Abo are also supported via an interface to PTnova, in which tickets and travel authorizations are provided to the connected apps as external objects.
The abo.digital expansion stage, eos.uptrade's fully integrated solution for the digital sale of D-Ticket and Berlin-Abo subscription tickets, will go live this year.
An important part of the project was the migration of many millions of customer data, orders, invoices and active tickets from the old systems to the new GOBD-compliant platform.
“With the new generation of eos.ticketingsuite, BVG has opted for the most modern online ticketing backend. We are very pleased to be able to provide a key element for the further growth of digital sales,” says Mathias Hüske, CEO of eos.uptrade.
