CheckIn/BeOut including best price for the entire state of Baden-Württemberg - with CiCoBW from eos.uptrade
Occasional public transportation passengers in particular benefit from the convenient use of the statewide system.
Hamburg, July 13th 2023. Take the bus or train on the spur of the moment, hop on and off as needed, and always arrive at your destination at the lowest fare - with XiXo, eos.uptrade has supplied Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG (SSB) with the technology for CiCoBW. This makes it easier than ever to use the entire local public transport system (ÖPNV) in Baden-Württemberg. With a swipe across the smartphone display, you check in (CheckIn) and are ready to go. At the end of the ride, you can either check out yourself via the app (CheckOut) or let the app check you out (BeOut). At the end of the day, the lowest total price for the connections used is calculated and automatically debited from the payment options stored. This offer provides a convenient solution for occasional riders without precise knowledge of fares and contributes to the attractiveness of public transport use.
Transport Minister Winfried Hermann about the new service: "CiCoBW is another element in making climate-friendly local public transport (ÖPNV) attractive to more people and encouraging them to switch from cars to buses and trains. CiCoBW, with its easy check-in and check-out via smartphone, is a good offer for occasional riders. It is a good complement to the Deutschland-Ticket, which is mainly used by passengers who travel more frequently by public transport."
CiCoBW is a joint project of Baden-Württemberg's public transportation associations, the Baden-Württemberg-Tarif GmbH and the state of Baden-Württemberg. In the "VVS BWeit" app delivered by eos.uptrade and Hacon, SSB is the first CiCoBW licensee to enable easy and borderless travel within Baden-Württemberg. The scope of the BWeit app covers the entire state. The app is available for download in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
Commercial Director Mario Laube: "I am proud of what my team has achieved despite all external influences. Parallel to the introduction of the statewide JugendTicket on March 1 and the DeutschlandTicket on May 1, SSB has now also made a statewide offer for occasional travel available with the VVS BWeit app. This enables all customers to travel throughout BW easily and, above all, without having to know the fare.”
XiXo was developed by eos.uptrade as a white label solution and can be used as a standalone app or integrated into existing apps using a ticket library. A connection to the fare server developed by the Fraunhofer IVI ensures data supply according to PKM standard. Interested partners can license the product for CiCoBW via Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG. The integration into the app of the Baden-Württemberg public transport brand "bwegt" is already being implemented.
Mathias Hüske, CEO of eos.uptrade: "We are very pleased that the state of Baden-Württemberg has chosen our innovative XiXo product for the implementation of CiCoBW. In this way, we are jointly increasing passenger satisfaction and at the same time promoting the use of climate-friendly public transport."
